The Ashanti regional representative hopeful of National Association of Local Authority of Ghana (NALAG)and Assembly member for Moseaso electoral area in the Amansie west district of Ashanti region who is also expert in small scale mining, Hon Daniel Kwaku Mensah, DKM, has suggested that, government and the ministry for Lands and Natural Resources to stop involving military personnel in fighting against illegal mining on river bodies but rather cease all the importation of equipments use for mining on river bodies.

These includes Chanfan among others into the country.

He said, after banning it’s importation into the country police officers at various security check points should arrest individuals moving along with such machines to various mining districts and burnt the machines.

Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, Hon Daniel Kwaku Mensah believes that, the best way to defend is to attack, there is a need to ban the entry of this very machines into the country.
