All is set for the election of new Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with the Ashanti Region set to witness a keenly contested electoral exercise on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Authorities and organisers of the election have assured aspirants, delegates and other stakeholders of effective security arrangements and a transparent, free and fair electoral process.
The assurance comes as excitement and political tension build ahead of the elections, which are expected to determine the new leadership of the NPP at the regional level and provide a fresh direction for the party’s organisational activities in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking during a live interview with Ezra TV and Ezra FM reporter, Hon. Justice Baffour, at the election venue during the 6:00pm news bulletin on Friday, August 14, 2026, NPP Ashanti Regional Committee Member Kwaku Atta Sarpong said all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
According to him, security measures have been strengthened at the election grounds to protect delegates, aspirants, party officials, journalists and other participants expected to converge at the venue.
He stressed that the elections must be allowed to proceed peacefully, warning individuals who may have intentions of creating confusion or engaging in acts capable of disrupting the process to desist.
Warning to Trouble Makers
Kwaku Atta Sarpong cautioned against any attempt to undermine the electoral process through violence, intimidation, provocation or other acts that could threaten peace and security at the election grounds.
He said the presence of security personnel should not be interpreted as a threat to legitimate participants but rather as a necessary measure to protect the integrity of the elections and ensure that everyone is able to participate without fear.
He therefore called on all aspirants and their supporters to exercise restraint and respect the rules governing the election.
Free and Fair Election Assured
The NPP committee member further assured delegates that they would be given the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights freely.
He maintained that every aspirant must be allowed to compete on a level playing field, while delegates must also be permitted to make their choices without intimidation or undue influence.
He appealed to all stakeholders to accept the eventual outcome of the election and work together in the interest of the party.
Ashanti Election Attracts Political Attention
The Ashanti Regional NPP elections have attracted significant attention from party supporters and political observers, considering the region’s strategic importance to the party.
The new regional executives will be expected to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, improve internal organisation and mobilise members ahead of future political activities.
The contest for the various positions has generated considerable interest among delegates, with aspirants and their supporters making their final preparations ahead of Saturday’s polls.
As the party heads into the election, stakeholders have been urged to place the unity and future of the NPP above individual ambitions.
Kwaku Atta Sarpong reiterated that the ultimate objective should be to conduct a peaceful, credible and transparent election that would strengthen the party and give the new regional executives the legitimacy needed to lead.
He therefore urged all delegates, aspirants, supporters and party officials to conduct themselves peacefully and allow the electoral process to take its course.
The NPP Ashanti Regional Executive elections are scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with heightened security and close monitoring expected throughout the exercise.
