    A3m Aba:Three Gone, 31 in critical condition as two vehicles collide on Nkawkaw – Accra highway

    A Darf Truck and a TATA bus have collided at Nkawanda no. 2 on the Nkawkaw – Accra highway.

    At approximately 2109 hours on Saturday, August 31, 2024, the Nkawkaw Fire Station received a distress call reporting a severe road traffic accident at Nkawanda no. 2, along the Nkawkaw-Accra Highway.

    The accident involved a DAF truck with registration number GW 9206-S and a TATA bus with registration number AS 6727-D.

    Upon receiving the call, the Crew was dispatched promptly at 2110 hours and arrived at the scene at 2125 hours.

    Details of the Accident

    A total of thirty-four (34) people were involved in the accident:

    Thirty-one persons onboard the TATA bus sustained varying degrees of injuries.

    Three persons onboard the DAF truck were reported dead and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Crew.

    Emergency Response

    The injured passengers from the TATA bus were assisted by the Crew and other road users who were passing by the scene. These casualties were subsequently transported to Kenop Care Hospital in Nkawkaw for medical treatment.

    The prompt response of the Crew facilitated the extrication of the dead persons trapped from the DAF truck. Both vehicles got totally damaged.

    According to the Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Samuel Mante who disclose the information to Republic FM’s Andy Frimpong Manso, Investigation is underway to determine the actual cause of the collision. He indicated that all the 31 on board the Tata bus are doing well while receiving treatment.
