Deputy Health Minister Calls for Enhanced Prostate Cancer Fight

A Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Adelaide Ntim, has emphasized the need for a national council registry to monitor and evaluate cancer trends in Ghana.

Speaking at the National Prostate Cancer Dialogue 2024 at Alisa Hotel, Accra, Hon. Ntim stressed that investing in systems for timely data collection, analysis, and dissemination is crucial for effective interventions.

“To ensure data-driven and responsive interventions, we must establish a national cancer registry,” she stated.

The Member of Parliament for Nsuta Kwaman Beposo reiterated the government’s commitment to improving Ghana’s healthcare, particularly in cancer care, by investing in healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment options.

By establishing a national cancer registry and investing in healthcare infrastructure, Ghana can enhance its fight against prostate cancer, saving lives and promoting quality healthcare for all.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted the importance of early detection and treatment, noting that prostate cancer is highly treatable if caught in its early stages.

She encouraged men to prioritize regular check-ups and screenings.

Hon. Ntim praised the efforts of healthcare professionals, organizations, and stakeholders working tirelessly to combat prostate cancer in Ghana.

She emphasized the need for continued collaboration and support to achieve meaningful progress.

The National Prostate Cancer Dialogue 2024 aims to raise awareness, promote education, and foster partnerships to tackle the growing burden of prostate cancer in Ghana.
