MINORITY CAUCUS DONATES TO ADUM PZ FIRE VICTIMS
Hon. Afenyo Markins, the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, has donated GHC 20,000 to support the Adum PZ fire devastation victims in Kumasi. He urged the government to expedite the reconstruction of the lost market, suggesting that funds be sourced from the consolidated fund, citing previous instances where this was done.
It’s worth noting that the government has already shown support for the victims. A donation of GHC 600,000 was made, with an immediate GHC 100,000 going to assist the most vulnerable victims. Other officials, including Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Madam Abigail Akwambea Mensah, have also pledged their support.
Reconstruction Efforts:
Government’s Role: The government is expected to play a key role in reconstructing the market.
Funding: Sourcing funds from the consolidated fund could be a viable option, as suggested by Hon. Afenyo Markins.
Support for Victims: Ensuring the most vulnerable victims receive adequate support is crucial for a speedy recovery.
The situation highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between government officials, parliamentarians, and other stakeholders to support the victims and rebuild the affected area.
