THREE HIGHWAY ROBBERS JAILED 20 YEARS EACH FOR ATTACK ON JACOBU-ANWIANKWANTA ROAD

The Bekwai Circuit Court has slammed 20-year jail terms each on three notorious highway robbers who unleashed terror on travelers along the Jacobu-Anwiankwanta highway in the Ashanti Region.

The convicts,Peter Boadi (alias Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso, met their fate on Monday, October 27, 2025, when His Honour Mr. Appiatu found them guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery after a lengthy trial.

The court heard how the trio, armed and merciless, attacked travelers at Fiankoma near Jacobu on April 29, 2024, robbing them of two iPhones, GH₵7,000 cash, and coercing a Chinese national to transfer an additional GH₵30,000 via mobile money to an accomplice’s account.

Police launched an intensive manhunt that led to the arrest of the suspects between June and September 2024 through intelligence-led operations. During a search at Boadi’s residence at Obuasi Bogobiri, officers discovered a foreign Bruni pistol, a locally made pistol, and live ammunition-all used as key evidence in court.

In delivering judgment, the presiding judge described their act as a “shameful and heartless crime against innocent travelers”, stressing that such barbaric conduct would not be tolerated in a civilized society.

The Ghana Police Service has since commended its investigative team for their professionalism and assured the public of its continued commitment to clamp down on armed robbers and make Ghana’s highways safe once again.

From highway terror to hard time-Justice has caught up with them.
