The Ashanti Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Akwasi Owusu Achiaw, a News Anchor with OTEC 102.9 FM.

In a statement released on Friday, December 26, 2025, the Association said it received the news of his passing with shock and deep sadness. The late journalist passed on in the early hours of Friday after a short illness.

The Ashanti GJA described Akwasi Owusu Achiaw as a committed and hardworking media professional whose contribution to journalism, particularly radio broadcasting, would be greatly missed.

“The Ashanti Regional GJA extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, management and staff of OTEC 102.9 FM, and the entire media fraternity,” the statement noted.

The Association prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and called on God to grant strength and comfort to all who are mourning his untimely loss.

The statement was signed by Kofi Adu Domfeh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
