Aggrieved Residents of Abuontem Unhappy with Ongoing Construction Works by Private Developers

Some aggrieved residents of Abuontem, a developing community in the Bosomtwe Constituency
are unhappy with ongoing construction works by some private developers in the area.

Consequent to a directive issued by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, halting all building operations by a person, group of persons or cooperate body who has acquired a plot or plots of land until further notice, they are shuddered by why some individuals have disregarded the directive.

In an interview with this medium, highly peeved residents alleged that the Chief of the area, Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II is the one who has given private developers the green light to resume work after collecting some amount of monies ranges from GHC 1500, GHC 18000 to GHC 20000 and above.

According to one Kwame Kusi (a resident cum a PWD), the inaction in question which he alleged is spearheaded by the Chief is a great disrespect to the Asantehene.

He therefore called on the Asantehene to intervene before matters slip out of hand.

However, the Administrator to the Chief of the area, Mr. Akwasi Acheampong has foiled the above allegations pelted at the Chief of the area, Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II.

After describing them as fallacious charges, he admitted that the Asantehene has given such directive and that even after the directive was given, Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II ensured a public announcement of same was made on several occasions.

“So how will Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II turn around and give a private developer or an individual permission to work on a land within his jurisdiction.”

“What evidence do they have to prove that Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II has permitted somebody to work”, he challenged.

“With the greatest of respect Nana Abuontemhene has not given permit to any developer to resume work on any land because the matter is before the Asantehene.

Those making such allegations should prove with evidence “, he reiterated.
