Ahafo Ano South West Assembly Explodes: 100% Vote of No Confidence Against District Coordinating Director

Tension reached a boiling point at the Third General Assembly Meeting of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, as Assembly Members unanimously passed a vote of no confidence in the District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Paul Atsu Agbedzedo, over allegations of gross disrespect and conduct unbecoming of his office.

All 38 Assembly Members present voted “YES” for his removal-representing a 100% decision, with not a single vote in support of his continued stay.

The historic decision was spearheaded by the Presiding Member, Hon. Prince Oppong, who also serves as the Assembly Member for the Wioso Electoral Area. Proceedings were charged with emotion, firm resistance, and open dissatisfaction, eventually forcing the indefinite adjournment of the General Assembly.

“Enough Is Enough”- Assembly Members Speak Out

Speaking to journalists after the adjournment, Members expressed deep frustration with what they described as the DCD’s persistent disregard for the authority of the Assembly. They accused Mr. Agbedzedo of undermining collective decision-making, creating unnecessary tension, and stalling critical development projects within the district.

Some Members openly described him as “an albatross around the neck of the Assembly,” arguing that his continued presence has eroded trust, unity, and effective local governance.

“The Assembly can no longer function effectively under such disrespect,” one Member stated, adding that all internal efforts to resolve the matter had failed.

    Demand for Immediate Action

The Assembly has now formally demanded the immediate removal or termination of Mr. Agbedzedo’s appointment, insisting that swift action is necessary to restore peace, cooperation, and accelerate development in the Ahafo Ano South West District.

The unanimous vote of no confidence signals a deepening leadership crisis and places enormous pressure on the relevant authorities to intervene promptly to prevent further administrative paralysis.
