Amenfi East MCE Praises MUSEC for Improved Security

The Municipal Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi East, Raymond Nana Ebbah, has commended the Municipal Security Council, MUSEC, for its role in maintaining peace and order across the municipality.

According to the Chairman of MUSEC, the council’s proactive approach and swift response to security threats have created a safer environment for residents, traders, and farmers to go about their daily activities without fear.

Raymond Nana Ebbah made these revelations during his sessional address at the First Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Wassa Amenfi East held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Wasa Akropong.

Nana Ebbah said improved collaboration among the Police, Fire Service, and other security agencies under MUSEC has reduced crime and restored public confidence.

“The commitment and dedication of MUSEC deserve praise. Their timely interventions have kept Amenfi East peaceful, and that is the foundation for development,” he stated.

The MCE assured the council of the Assembly’s continuous support, including logistics and resources, to strengthen their operations.

He added that security remains a top priority for the Assembly as it pushes the President’s ‘Resetting Ghana’ agenda at the local level.

According to the MUSEC Chairman, the first half of 2026 has been comparatively safe and peaceful, recording fewer robbery, misdemeanor, and civil cases.

The MCE said Amenfi East was previously known for high crime rates, but records of such cases have reduced thanks to the dedication of security agencies and stakeholders.

Raymond Nana Ebbah said police statistics indicate that from January to June 2026, the municipality recorded 5 robbery cases, 12 stealing cases, 23 assault cases, 2 threat of harm cases, 3 threat of death cases, 4 defrauding by false pretence cases, 5 causing harm cases, 1 murder case, 1 fraud case, and 1 case of exposing a child to danger.

Despite these chalked successes, the MCE revealed that illegal mining activities in Amenfi East remain a major challenge.

Raymond Nana Ebbah emphasized that though the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Squad, NAIMOS, has been instrumental in curbing the menace, some recalcitrant illegal miners continue to operate illegally.

Going forward, the MCE revealed that the Municipal Assembly has renovated one of its bungalows to accommodate NAIMOS personnel and enable them to enhance their operations.
