Ash Reg. Council of State Elections:Team Nkansah Boadu Warns EC Over Alleged Register Tempering and Change of Venue:

Campaign team for the Ashanti regional council of state representative,Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo (Chief of Agric Nzema) alleges that,,the electoral commission of Ghana are planning to temper the approved register in favour of one aspiring candidate from the ruling National Democratic Congress NDC. They insisted that, the team will not keep mute but will advise themselves should they fail not to abide by the electoral commission directives and do anything contrary to the voting rules.

They again requested for a deployment of the military to handle security matters vis-a-vis the re-running of the Ashanti region version of the council of State Elections scheduled for Monday, 17th February, 2024.

Per the group’s assertion, police officers who were assigned on Tuesday proved weak in controlling the chaotic incident that occured.

Speaking on their behalf at a press conference held today,Friday, the spokesperson for the team,Nana Obour Sikka said, “They only turned up as spectators to witness last Tuesday proceedings and not as security personnel”,

The team has also requested for a different venue instead of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).

Nana Obour Sikka explained that the RCC is not neutral enough to serve as venue for the election.

He told newsmen that considering it being the location of the official seat of the regional Minister, the election can easily be manipulated in favour of NDC’s candidate, Hon. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh.

The above according to him couples with what “the Ashanti regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene said right in front of me that so long as he remains the regional minister, he will not allow Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo to be member of the Council of State”.

“We will advise ourselves if the EC insists holding the election at same venue or doctor names in the voters’ album which was used on Tuesday”, he roared.
