Atwima Mponua MP Hon. Seth Osei Akoto Inspects Kotokuom Bridge Reconstruction Project

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency, Hon. Seth Osei Akoto, has reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructural development with a working visit to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of the Kotokuom Bridge—a vital infrastructure project linking the communities of Nyinawusu and Kotokuom in the Ashanti Region.

The bridge, which has been in a state of disrepair for several years, serves as a key transportation route for thousands of residents, including farmers, traders, school children, and health seekers who depend on it for their daily commute and socio-economic activities. Its reconstruction has come as a major relief to the local population, many of whom have suffered challenges accessing neighboring towns during the rainy season due to the deteriorated state of the bridge.

During the inspection on Tuesday 15th April,2025 , Hon. Seth Osei Akoto expressed his satisfaction with the quality of work being executed by the contractor and noted that the project is progressing steadily. According to him, the reconstruction works are expected to be completed within a three-month period, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

“I am pleased with the progress of work and the professionalism shown by the contractor. This bridge is not just a structure—it is a lifeline for thousands of people in this part of the constituency. Its completion will significantly improve access to markets, schools, and health facilities,” the MP said.

He emphasized that the project forms part of broader efforts by the government to bridge the infrastructure gap in rural areas and enhance the quality of life for underserved communities. Hon. Akoto urged residents to continue supporting the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project.

In a show of appreciation, the Chief of Kotokuom, Nana Kofi Fofie, Assembly member Hon Osman Adamu Kwame and residents who joined the MP during the inspection, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Seth Osei Akoto and the government for responding to their longstanding request.

“For many years, we have cried for help to fix this bridge. Today, we are witnessing the fruits of persistent advocacy, and we are grateful to our MP for not turning a blind eye to our needs,” the Chief stated.

Several residents who gathered at the project site also commended the MP for his accessibility, responsiveness, and practical approach to leadership. Some recounted the challenges they faced over the years, including near-fatal accidents and delays in transporting farm produce due to the poor condition of the bridge.

With the project on track and hopes running high, the people of Kotokuom and surrounding communities are optimistic that the completed bridge will usher in a new era of safety, connectivity, and economic opportunity.

The MP’s inspection tour forms part of a broader strategy to ensure quality assurance, transparency, and accountability in the execution of all ongoing development projects in Atwima Mponua.
