BEAUTIFUL WATER RESOURCE EMERGES AT ATWIMA KWANWOMA AS REGIONAL MINISTER INSPECTS ARTIFICIAL DAMS

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has inspected a series of five artificial dams at Atwima Kwanwoma, including Dufie Resort near Atwima Yabi, describing the initiative as a significant step toward boosting local economic development and tourism.

The dams, which are currently supporting fish farming activities, have become a vital resource for communities in the district, offering both livelihood opportunities and environmental benefits.

During the inspection, the Minister noted that there are ongoing plans to transform the area into a major tourism destination, drawing inspiration from renowned sites such as Lake Bosomtwe and Truba. He emphasized that with the right investment and strategic partnerships, the dams could evolve into a hub for recreation, aquaculture, and eco-tourism.

Dr. Amoakohene commended the contributions of Kennedy Agyapong and other key stakeholders whose efforts have helped bring the project to its current stage.
He further assured that the Regional Coordinating Council will actively engage all relevant partners to enhance the infrastructure and unlock the full potential of the dams for sustainable economic growth.

The initiative is expected to create jobs, attract visitors, and position Atwima Kwanwoma as an emerging destination within the Ashanti Region’s tourism landscape.
