Bekwai MCE Backs Mahama’s Feed Ghana Agenda to Transform Farming

The Municipal Chief Executive for Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, Honorable Salifu Issaka, says agriculture remains the heartbeat of Ghana’s economy-and the ruling NDC government is determined to make it stronger.

Addressing the media in Bekwai, the MCE disclosed that government has rolled out bold strategies to promote farming and ease the challenges faced by farmers nationwide.

He emphasized that the interventions will cut down the rising cost of food, prevent famine, and encourage the youth to see farming not as punishment-but as a profitable and dignified venture.

Honorable Issaka revealed that President John Dramani Mahama is introducing the Feed Ghana Program, a flagship policy aimed at making agriculture more attractive, productive, and rewarding than ever.

“The President’s Feed Ghana initiative is a game-changer. It will not only reduce the burden on our hardworking farmers, but also inspire our young people to go into farming with confidence.”

The Bekwai MCE further stated that his administration, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Security Council, is determined to combat illegal mining activities in the municipality and its surrounding areas. He explained that this decisive step is to protect farmlands and water bodies, paving the way for the successful rollout of the Feed Ghana Program.

Honorable Issaka is urging residents, particularly the youth, to take advantage of the opportunity, as government pushes forward fresh policies to secure Ghana’s food future.
