Edwenase Rehabilitation Center Receives GH¢30,000 Worth of Items and Cash Support from Kumi Yeboah Memorial Foundation

The Edwenase Rehabilitation Center in the Ashanti Region has received a significant boost ahead of the Christmas festivities, as the Kumi Yeboah Memorial Foundation donated food items and essential supplies valued at GH¢30,000, together with additional cash support, to improve the welfare of persons living with disabilities at the facility.

The humanitarian gesture, made on Saturday, December 20, 2025, brought timely relief to more than 150 residents who depend entirely on the center for their daily meals, care, and basic necessities. For many of the
residents, the donation came as a lifeline during a period often marked by shortages and increased needs.

Items presented included bags of rice and sugar, assorted soft drinks, canned milk, cooking oil, detergents, toiletries, and boxes of biscuits. In addition to these supplies, the foundation also presented an undisclosed amount of cash in an envelope to support the operational and logistical needs of the center.

Presenting the donation on behalf of the foundation, the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Shadrach Osei Bonsu, said the gesture was motivated by the organisation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and promoting dignity, inclusion, and social responsibility. He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability, urging management of the center to ensure that both the donated items and the cash support are used strictly for their intended purposes, especially for the benefit of the children and other residents.

Mr. Bonsu noted that the foundation’s ability to return with similar interventions in the future would largely depend on how responsibly the resources are utilised, adding that proper use of the donation would encourage continued support.

Management of the Edwenase Rehabilitation Center expressed deep appreciation to the Kumi Yeboah Memorial Foundation for the timely intervention and assured the NGO that all items and cash received would be used solely for their intended purposes.
They further pledged accountability and transparency in the management of the support, describing the donation as a major relief during the festive season.

The House Master of the center, Mr. Ofori Kwabena, said the facility continues to face serious feeding and logistical challenges due to the large number of residents under its care.
“With over 150 persons depending on us daily, support of this nature is not only helpful but truly lifesaving,” he said, while appealing to other NGOs, corporate bodies, philanthropists, and well-meaning Ghanaians to support the center.
The Kumi Yeboah Memorial Foundation was founded by Mrs. Sarah Baah-Afriyie, also known as Baah-Donkor, in memory of her late father, Kumi Yeboah.
Over the years, the foundation has supported cancer patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, assisted widows, persons with disabilities, and needy students, and consistently advocated for health, dignity, and social inclusion.

The foundation’s intervention at the Edwenase Rehabilitation Center once again highlights the critical role Non-Governmental Organisations continue to play in complementing government efforts, strengthening social welfare systems, and improving the lives of vulnerable populations across the country.
