Kumawu MP Joins Ghana Parliamentary Committees on Landmark UK House of Commons Benchmark Visit

Honourable Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency, is among the distinguished Ghanaian legislators currently engaged in a high-profile benchmarking visit to the House of Commons in the United Kingdom.
The two-day strategic mission, which began on 8th December 2025, brings together members of Ghana’s Human Rights Committee and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee. The visit is designed to enhance legislative capacity, strengthen parliamentary oversight, and inform human rights reforms in Ghana.
During the engagement, the Ghanaian delegation is expected to interact with UK Parliament counterparts to explore:
Best practices in human rights protection and legislative oversight
Innovative approaches to parliamentary committee work
Citizen engagement models and accountability mechanisms
Effective processes for constitutional reforms and legislative drafting
Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, who has long championed human rights, governance, and legal reform, emphasized the importance of learning from mature democracies to improve Ghana’s legislative efficiency and protect citizens’ rights more effectively.
“This benchmarking visit provides invaluable insight into how a leading democracy like the UK structures its parliamentary committees, manages legislation, and safeguards citizens’ rights,” Hon. Anim said. “The lessons we gather here will directly inform ongoing human rights initiatives and legislative reforms back home.”
