Hon. Eric Assibe, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, has strongly reaffirmed the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s commitment to fulfilling its flagship “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” campaign promise, describing the initiative as a transformative grassroots intervention designed to empower households and stimulate local economic growth.

Addressing party faithful, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders during a sensitization and educational forum ahead of the distribution phase of the poultry programme, Hon. Asibey declared that the NDC government remains steadfast in honoring every pledge made to Ghanaians.

“The NDC is not a party that makes empty promises. We are committed to implementing policies that directly improve the lives of our people. The Nkoko Nkitinkiti programme is only the beginning,” he stated amid loud applause.

    *Empowering Beneficiaries for Sustainable Growth*

Hon. Asibey urged prospective beneficiaries to treat the programme as a long-term economic opportunity rather than a short-lived political intervention. He stressed that the success and expansion of the initiative will depend largely on the dedication, discipline, and effective management demonstrated by participants.

According to him, the first phase of implementation will serve as a benchmark for a potential second phase, which could extend benefits to more households across the municipality.
He explained that the poultry initiative forms part of broader government efforts to boost food security, create employment opportunities, promote self-reliance, and reduce Ghana’s heavy dependence on imported poultry products.

“The objective is to put economic power directly into the hands of our people. When households become productive, the local economy becomes stronger,” he emphasized.

    *Cocoa Price Review:*

    A Bold Economic Reset,
Touching on the recent downward adjustment in cocoa prices, the MCE defended the decision, describing it as a strategic and necessary measure to stabilize what he termed a “fragile and heavily burdened economy” inherited from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration under former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

He argued that although the measure may be unpopular in the short term, it is part of broader corrective steps aimed at restoring fiscal discipline and rebuilding Ghana’s economic fundamentals.
“When you inherit a weak economy, you must take bold and sometimes uncomfortable decisions to reset it. The NDC government is focused on rebuilding, stabilizing, and putting Ghana back on the path of sustainable growth,” he asserted.

Calling for Confidence in President Mahama,
Hon.Asibey further appealed to farmers and the general public to maintain confidence in the leadership of President John Mahama, assuring them that the administration has a clear and structured roadmap for economic recovery and inclusive development.

He encouraged cocoa farmers not to lose hope, stressing that government policies are being carefully structured to ultimately improve livelihoods and strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector.
“The sacrifices of today will yield a stronger and more prosperous Ghana tomorrow,” he added.

    *Strengthening the Grassroots Agenda:*

The sensitization programme forms part of the NDC’s broader grassroots engagement strategy aimed at deepening public understanding of government interventions while mobilizing community support for national development policies.

Political observers see the Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiative as one of the early litmus tests of the NDC administration’s campaign commitments, particularly in tackling unemployment and promoting practical, income-generating ventures at the local level.

As preparations for distribution gather momentum in Kwadaso, expectations remain high that the programme will deliver tangible benefits and reinforce the government’s social intervention agenda.
