The Chief Executive Officer of Odotobri Community Bank PLC,Mr. Abraham Coffie, has called on the Government of Ghana and key stakeholders to establish a dedicated national budget for agriculture, describing the sector as the engine of the country’s economic transformation.

Speaking at the bank’s 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region,Mr. Coffie stressed that agriculture remains the backbone of Ghana’s economy and therefore deserves sustained financial investment to unlock its full potential.

According to him, increased investment in agriculture would not only enhance food security but also create sustainable employment opportunities, stimulate agro-industrial growth, boost exports and improve the livelihoods of millions of Ghanaians, particularly those in rural communities.

He noted that a well-funded agricultural sector would strengthen Ghana’s economic resilience, reduce poverty and contribute significantly to the country’s long-term development.

Mr. Coffie reaffirmed Odotobri Community Bank PLC’s unwavering commitment to supporting farmers, agribusinesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through accessible financial services,tailor-made loan facilities and customer-centred banking solutions.

He explained that the bank recognises agriculture as a strategic sector capable of transforming local economies and pledged that it would continue to develop innovative financial products to empower farmers and entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, increase productivity and create jobs.

“Our commitment goes beyond banking. We are dedicated to supporting the growth of agriculture and local businesses because their success translates into stronger communities and a stronger national economy,” Mr. Coffie stated.

The AGM also highlighted the bank’s continued contribution to socio-economic development within its operational areas through community-focused investments, financial inclusion initiatives and responsible corporate leadership.

In his remarks, the Paramount Chief of Jacobu, Nana Adi Darko III, commended the Board of Directors,Management and staff of Odotobri Community Bank PLC for their consistent contribution to the socio-economic development of the district.

He praised the bank for supporting local economic activities and encouraged its leadership to sustain investments in education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure to improve the quality of life of people within its catchment communities.

The Paramount Chief further urged other corporate organisations operating in the district to emulate the bank’s example by partnering with communities to promote sustainable development, economic empowerment and inclusive growth.

The 39th Annual General Meeting brought together shareholders, directors, management, traditional leaders, customers and other stakeholders to review the bank’s performance, celebrate its achievements and discuss strategies to strengthen its role in promoting financial inclusion and community development.
