PRIVATE HEALTHCARE FACILITY ASSOCIATION OF GHANA COMMISSIONS NEW OFFICE COMPLEX IN ASHANTI REGION
Kumasi, June 27, 2025 — The Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Private Healthcare Facility Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) has commissioned its first regional office, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to improve coordination and service delivery among private healthcare providers in the region.
The commissioning took place during the Association’s first regional (mid-year) meeting for 2025, held at the Kumasi City Mall Event Centre under the theme: “Achieving Universal Healthcare Coverage: The Role of Private Healthcare Facilities (PHFAoG).”
The event brought together a distinguished array of stakeholders from across the health sector, including private healthcare providers, health service managers, local and international businesses, and representatives from key state institutions. Among the notable attendees were Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto (Deputy Chief Executive – Operations, NHIA), Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang Adomako (Ashanti Regional Director, GHS), Dr. Paul Gyan (Regional Director, HeFRA), the Deputy Director of CPC-Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Director of NHIA, the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, traditional leaders, the clergy, media personnel, and members of the security services.
Nana Gyamfi Kumanin, Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Advisory Board, expressed his joy at the successful gathering and the visible cooperation between PHFAoG leadership and government agencies. He highlighted the importance of private healthcare in achieving national health goals and praised the enthusiasm and commitment of all parties.
Mr. Francis Fosu, Ashanti Regional Chairman of PHFAoG, emphasized the pressing challenges confronting private healthcare providers. He called for a renewed commitment from the government to support the sector through policy and financial interventions.
In his remarks, Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto, Deputy Chief Executive for Operations at NHIA, applauded the commissioning of the new regional office. He stated that this office—the first of its kind in the country—would facilitate smoother interactions between NHIA and private providers, particularly in areas of accreditation and onboarding.
He also noted that the NHIA is committed to expediting payment processes and strengthening partnerships with private facilities to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare nationwide.
The event created a platform for meaningful engagement with regulatory agencies like HeFRA and NHIA, enabling service providers to raise important questions about compliance, service models, and operational bottlenecks.
A highlight of the day was the formal commissioning of PHFAoG’s Ashanti Regional Office, located at Millennium Plaza, near the Kumasi City Mall in Asokwa. The new office is expected to serve as a resource and coordination hub for the Association’s growing membership across the region and beyond.
