Use traditional rulers to fight covid-19 - Lydia Forson

Apr 17, 2020

Actress Lydia Forson has added her voice to the growing concern over some Ghanaians not observing social distancing, one of the precautionary measures to help break the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

And for her, she believes the situation can be resolved if government involved traditional rulers in the fight against the pandemic.

According to Lydia Forson in a tweet, people obey directives from traditional rulers siting how they adhered strictly to the ban on noise making among others.

Her post read;

From the comments I believe that traditional rulers should be educated and empowered even more to help reach their people on #COVID2019

There’s a respect and trust people give to traditional rulers that politicians don’t get. ‪We’ve all witnessed the numerous occasions where chiefs have imposed a ban on noise making or curfew and people who don’t even believe in these customs comply.

It’s interesting that we’ve not used them more.

When I say reach people in a language they understand, I don’t always mean literally.
If they’re willing to stay home because a chief is dead, they can because they’ve been told not to.

Just my thoughts.
