    TRAGEDY IN AKYEMPIM: MAN SETS FAMILY ABLAZE, TAKES OWN LIFE AFTER DOMESTIC DISPUTE

    Akyempim, Upper Denkyira East-
    A shocking tragedy has hit the Akyempim community near Dunkwa-On-Offin after a man, identified as Yaw Afriyie, in his mid-40s, allegedly set his wife and children ablaze before taking his own life.

    The horrifying incident occurred on October 31, 2025, following what residents describe as a minor misunderstanding between Afriyie and his wife, Ama Dapaah, believed to be in her 30s.

    According to information gathered, the man set his wife, five children, and a grandchild on fire inside their home. The victims sustained severe burns; community members describe the scene as heartbreaking and traumatizing.

    Yaw Afriyie reportedly died by suicide shortly after committing the act. The surviving victims were rushed to a nearby health facility for emergency care, though their current condition remains unclear.

    The incident has thrown the entire Akyempim community into mourning, with residents calling for psychological and security interventions to prevent similar occurrences.
