Village of Hope Orphanage Celebrates Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II for Transformative Leadership

Traditional ruler honoured for community development,peace-building and support for vulnerable children
Bibiani,Western Region-The Management of the Village of Hope Orphanage has honoured the President of the National House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anhwiaso Traditional Area,Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II,for his exceptional leadership,community development initiatives and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people.
The colourful but solemn ceremony in Bibiani brought together traditional leaders,management and staff of the orphanage,beneficiaries and other stakeholders to celebrate the traditional ruler’s contribution to the development of the area and his support for the organisation.
At the heart of the recognition was Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II’s role in facilitating the resettlement of residents of Bibiani Old Town and Zongo communities,an intervention which has been described as an important step towards promoting peace, orderly development and social cohesion in the area.
Speaking during the ceremony,Managing Director of the Village of Hope Orphanage,Dr. Fred Asante,praised the Paramount Chief for demonstrating a style of traditional leadership that goes beyond customary responsibilities.
He said Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II had distinguished himself through initiatives aimed at transforming communities,improving infrastructure and creating opportunities for people,particularly the vulnerable and marginalised.
According to Dr. Asante,the traditional ruler’s interventions have contributed significantly to strengthening social cohesion and creating an environment conducive to sustainable community development.
He said the recognition was also a demonstration of the strong relationship that could exist between traditional institutions and social organisations in addressing challenges confronting society.
Dr. Asante expressed delight at the opportunity to honour the President of the National House of Chiefs,stressing that his contributions deserved to be acknowledged and celebrated.
A citation was subsequently presented to Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II in recognition of his leadership and service to the community.

In his response, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II expressed gratitude to the management of the Village of Hope Orphanage for the recognition and commended the organisation for what he described as an enormous and herculean task of caring for vulnerable children and preparing them for productive lives.
The traditional ruler said he was particularly surprised and impressed to learn that several beneficiaries of the orphanage had grown into professionals contributing to national development.
He noted that some former inmates had become doctors,teachers, lnurses and lecturers,while others were still pursuing various levels of education.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II said the development was a testament to the commitment of the management and staff of the Village of Hope to transforming the lives of children entrusted to their care.
He consequently pledged his unflinching support to the organisation and encouraged management to remain focused on its mission of providing hope, education and a brighter future for vulnerable children.
The event also highlighted the continuing relevance of traditional leadership in Ghana’s development,particularly in complementing government and civil society efforts to promote peace,social welfare and grassroots development.
