Amansie Central Launches 24-Hour Economy Market Project

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central,Hon. Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang, has called on residents and stakeholders within the district to support and actively promote the Government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy Market initiative aimed at stimulating economic growth and creating employment opportunities.

Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market at Mile 9 Electoral Area,Hon. Obeng Agyemang stated that the project forms part of the campaign promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to the DCE, the Government under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to implementing policies and programmes that will improve the living conditions of Ghanaians and address the economic challenges facing many citizens.

He explained that the 24-Hour Economy Market initiative is designed to create jobs, reduce unemployment, provide opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, and strengthen the local economy through increased commercial activity.

Hon. Obeng Agyemang noted that the market project is expected to boost trade, enhance local production, create employment for the youth, and provide traders with modern infrastructure to conduct business around the clock.

He therefore urged residents, traders, farmers, and business operators to embrace the initiative and contribute to its success for the benefit of the district and the nation as a whole.

Speaking on behalf of the Assembly Members, the Presiding Member of the Amansie Central District Assembly, Honourable Isaac Osei Duah, stated that the selection of Mile 9 as the site for the market project was a collective decision taken during a General Assembly meeting.

He clarified that the decision was not influenced by any individual or group but was reached through broad consultations and deliberations among Assembly Members in the best interest of the district’s development.

The event brought together traditional authorities, clergy, Assembly Members, residents, party executives, youth groups, and other stakeholders, all of whom expressed optimism about the project’s potential impact on the local economy.

Construction of the market is expected to commence soon, with authorities hopeful that the facility will become a major commercial hub, attracting businesses and investors to the Amansie Central District while enhancing agricultural trade and economic development.
