    Elections 2024: Residents In AKC Hails  MP,DCE Assures NPP A Massive Victory For Municipal Status Elevation:

     

    The Atwima Kwanwoma district has now seen the light,after the Member of Parliament in the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party-NPP who doubles as the Ghana’s deputy minister of Defense,hon lawyer Kofi AMANKWA-MANU assured them with municipal status somewhere two to three years back for Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly in Ashanti region.

    The Chiefs,residents and entire populace of Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency on Friday 8th November at the District national farmers day celebration ceremony held at Atwima Dida have commended His excellency Nana Addo Danqua Akufo Addo for elevating the second largest populated and fastest growing district in Ashanti region,Atwima Kwanwoma District to Municipal Status.They promised rescinding victory and vowed to give the ruling NPP government a massive votes to be emerged them winners of this year’s critical and historic general elections scheduled on God willing, December 7th.

    Expressing their joy in an interview with this medium,wew.dailywatchgh.com,some residents in the area disclosed that, “We are more than determined to maintain your government in power for you to do more and drive our own Atwima Kwanwoma and country at large to a perfect destination that we are all fighting and prayer for”.

    President Akufo Addo in accordance with the Local Government Act (926) elevated some districts in the country, including Atwima Kwanwoma,other four district Assemblies in Ashanti region to a municipal status.

    The newly upgraded districts in the region are; Atwima Kwanwoma municipal Assembly,Sekyere South Municipal,Afigya Kwabre South Municipal,Obuasi East Municipal and Atwima Nwabiagya East municipal Assembly.

    In a released letter from Jubilee House In Accra dated 7th November 2024 from the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development granted executive approval for many as twelve municipalities, and decision on others,thus Ho Municipal to Metropolis,Offinso North, Birem North to Municipalities as well as petition to be creation of new districts are still under consideration for necessary action just to strengthening Decentralization system in the country.

    The Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development minister,Hon Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsa in a approved letter stated that, more districts, Municipal are to be elevated to Municipal and Metropolitan status.
