Hon. Eric Assibey Vows to Strengthen Security in Kwadaso

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Hon. Eric Assibey, has announced that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has implemented a series of precautionary measures aimed at combating crime across the country, particularly within the Kwadaso Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

In an exclusive interview with Ezra TV reporter Justice Baffour at his office, Mr. Assibey revealed that the Assembly is developing new strategies to eliminate lawlessness in the municipality. He emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for both residents and businesses.

He called on the people of Kwadaso to continue to have faith in the NDC government, assuring them that the administration has the capability to address the security challenges faced by Ghanaians, especially those in Kwadaso.

Touching on the controversial return of onion sellers who were previously relocated to Atwima Denkyemuoso Techiman by the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, the MCE distanced himself from any involvement in their return. He appealed to the traders and the general public to respect the rule of law, stating that the matter is currently under judicial review.

“The law must be respected by all. Until the court makes a ruling, everyone is expected to remain law-abiding,” Hon. Assibey emphasized.

Responding to allegations that some traditional leaders (chiefs) may be attempting to influence court proceedings, Mr. Assibey said:

“As the Municipal Chief Executive and representative of the President, I cannot override any lawful decision made by the traditional authorities. If Nananoom and, by extension, the Asantehene lawfully decide to take over the land, who am I to challenge that?”

The MCE’s remarks underscore the delicate balance between state authority and traditional leadership, and his commitment to the rule of law and security in Kwadaso.
