Ashanti South Police Score Big Wins in Fight Against Robbery

    22nd July 2025 | Ashanti Region, Ghana

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command is making waves—and for all the right reasons. In a strong show of determination and effective policing, the Command has chalked up major successes in tackling armed robbery and violent crime across the region.

Over the past few months, officers have stepped up their game with intelligence-led operations, increased patrols, and solid partnerships with local communities. And it’s paying off.

A Shift in Strategy, A Drop in Crime

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, this new wave of success is no coincidence. It’s the result of a renewed focus on proactive policing, high-visibility patrols, and stronger community engagement.

“We’ve seen a marked decline in reported robbery cases, especially in high-risk zones,” ACP Nyaaba said. “Our rapid response teams and undercover operations have played a critical role in intercepting criminals before they strike.”

    Highlights from the Frontlines

Here’s a quick look at some of the standout achievements by the Ashanti South Police:

Arrest of a notorious highway robbery gang that was terrorizing commuters between Ankaako Asuoso and Fenaso in the Amansie Central District.

Seizure of illegal firearms, ammunition, and stolen items in targeted raids.

Significant drop in robbery cases compared to the previous quarter.

    Among those arrested are:

    Rahman Alhassan, 27

    Nurudeen Fatawu, 25

    Naafewu Masahud, 22

    Yaw Saaka, 42

Community First: Eyes and Ears on the Ground

In a bid to sustain the progress, the Police Command is also rolling out a community sensitization program. This initiative encourages residents to report suspicious activities and strengthens neighborhood watch systems across communities.

“Crime has no place in Ashanti South. We are determined to rid our communities of criminal elements,” ACP Nyaaba added confidently.

You can help,The Ghana Police Service is calling on all residents to stay vigilant and proactive. If you see something suspicious, don’t hesitate to speak up. You can report incidents by dialing the emergency number 18555.

Together, let’s keep Ashanti South safe.
