Double Tragedy in Bekwai Municipality: Wife Stabbed by Husband, Farmer Found Dead in Bush

The Bekwai Municipality in the Ashanti Region has been thrown into a state of shock and grief following two separate tragic incidents that unfolded within just 24 hours.

    Stabbing Incident at Edwenase, Abodom
On Sunday, August 10, 2025, a domestic dispute in Edwenase, a suburb of Abodom, took a bloody turn when 38-year-old Rebecca Appiah was stabbed in the stomach by her husband.

According to the victim, her husband had for years accused her of engaging in extramarital affairs during her trips to the Bekwai market. These suspicions, coupled with repeated threats to kill her, culminated in the violent attack.

After stabbing his wife, the husband allegedly turned the knife on himself and ingested poison in an attempt to end his life. Both were rushed to the Bekwai Government Hospital. Rebecca is currently receiving treatment, while her husband remains in critical condition as doctors fight to save him.

    Mysterious Death at Behenase
In a separate incident on Monday, August 11, 2025, residents of Behenase discovered the lifeless body of 38-year-old farmer, Adwoa Antwi.

Reports indicate that Adwoa left for her farm on August 10 but failed to return home. Concerned residents launched a search the following day, combing the outskirts of the town. Her body was eventually found lying in a supine position, with blood and foam oozing from her nose.

The cause of death is not immediately known, and authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the matter.

    Community in Mourning
The back-to-back tragedies have left residents of the Bekwai Municipality reeling in shock. Local leaders and community members are calling for calm and urging cooperation with security agencies as investigations into both incidents continue.
