The District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Issahaque Ibrahim, earlier today joined the Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Nana Jaama, and her team to inspect the abandoned Nyinahin Sports Multipurpose Complex.
While the project was initiated as a laudable step to boost sports development in the area, its current incomplete state has denied the people of Atwima Mponua the opportunities and benefits it was meant to provide.
Speaking after the inspection, Hon. Ibrahim emphasized that sports development remains a top priority for his administration. He assured residents of his commitment to seeing the facility completed and fully operationalized.
The DCE, together with the NSA team and Comrade Issaka Saliu a lecturer and senior NDC member who has been actively advocating for the project held what he described as “fruitful discussions” aimed at fast-tracking the completion process.
Hon. Ibrahim also revealed that although no host has yet been selected for the zonal games of AshantiFest 2026, Atwima Mponua is positioning itself strongly to secure hosting rights for the proposed Zone 6 Games. The zone covers Atwima Mponua, Atwima Nwabiagya North, Atwima Nwabiagya South, Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano South East, and Ahafo Ano North districts.
He stressed that completing the Nyinahin Sports Complex would be central to clinching the bid and showcasing Atwima Mponua’s capacity to lead in sports development.
