AS3M ABA:Accra High Court Halts Daddy Lumba’s Scheduled Funeral, Blocks Release of Body

Accra, Ghana, December 12, 2025,The Accra High Court has issued a last-minute order stopping the much-publicized funeral of celebrated Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow, December 13, 2025.

The unexpected ruling, delivered on Thursday, has also directed the relevant authorities to withhold the release of the musician’s body, pending the determination of a legal dispute brought before the court.

Court Issues Injunction Over Disputed Claims

Sources indicate that the court’s decision stems from an injunction application filed by parties believed to be contesting certain rights connected to the late musician, allegedly involving issues of family authorization, burial arrangements, and possible estate-related disagreements.

The injunction, therefore, prevents the planned funeral rites from proceeding until the court fully hears and rules on the matter.

Organizers Forced to Suspend All Activities

The ruling has thrown funeral organizers, fans, and sympathizers into uncertainty just a day before the scheduled ceremony. Preparations had already reached an advanced stage, with thousands of admirers expected to attend the event to pay their final respects to the iconic highlife legend.

Family representatives have yet to release an official statement following the court order, but insiders say emergency meetings have been convened to address the sudden legal setback.

Fans React With Shock and Disappointment

News of the cancellation has sparked shock across the entertainment community, with many fans expressing their disappointment on social media. Some described the development as “heartbreaking and embarrassing,” given the prominence of the musician and the magnitude of preparations underway.

    What Happens Next?

The High Court is expected to sit on the matter in the coming days to determine the rightful course of action regarding the body and the funeral arrangements. Until then, all plans remain suspended.

Daddy Lumba, celebrated for his unmatched contribution to Ghanaian highlife music, continues to be remembered nationwide as fans await clarity on when he will finally be laid to rest.
