The Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, under the leadership of the District Chief Executive, Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has distributed various relief items and financial support to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) within the district as part of efforts aimed at promoting inclusiveness and economic empowerment.

The items distributed included block-making machines, deep freezers, wheelchairs, popcorn machines, and several other working tools. Some beneficiaries also received cheques to support medical bills and school fees.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah advised them to make good use of the items to improve their livelihoods and become economically independent. She further encouraged families and relatives of Persons Living with Disabilities to support and empower them emotionally and physically instead of neglecting them.

According to the DCE, disability is not inability, stressing that with the needed support and encouragement, Persons Living with Disabilities can equally contribute meaningfully to society. She reiterated Government’s commitment to continuously support and empower PWDs across the country.

The District Social Welfare and Community Development Officer, Madam Hannah Yeboah, also urged the public not to marginalize or discriminate against Persons Living with Disabilities but rather embrace them as important members of society. She further encouraged them to unite and speak with one voice in advocating for their welfare.

On his part, the Local Chairman of the Federation of Persons Living with Disabilities, Mr. Yaw Nsafoah, advised members to reach out to other Persons Living with Disabilities within their various communities and encourage them to join the association for a stronger collective front.

He also appealed to the Assembly to expedite action on the disbursement of funds meant for Persons Living with Disabilities whenever they are ready.
