Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah calls for unity and renewed hope as government rolls out infrastructure, education, health, and agricultural initiatives in the district.

The District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma District, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has outlined major development projects undertaken in the district while urging residents to support efforts aimed at building prosperity and restoring hope in Ghana.

She made the remarks during the district’s 69th Independence Day celebration held at Ampabame No.1 School Park on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Addressing dignitaries, traditional leaders, assembly members, and school children, the DCE paid tribute to Ghana’s forefathers led by Kwame Nkrumah, whose sacrifices secured the country’s independence from colonial rule.

Hon. Agyemang Asamoah noted that this year’s national theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” calls for collective efforts to translate independence into improved living standards, quality education, accessible healthcare, and economic opportunities for citizens.

She emphasized that under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, the government remains committed to people-centered governance focused on infrastructure development, job creation, and inclusive growth.

    Infrastructure and Water Projects
Highlighting progress in the district, the DCE revealed that several roads including the Nwinsa-Nkwanta-Amoafo stretch, as well as roads at Kotwi, Biragokrom, Asaago, and Bekwaime-Kyekyewere, have been reshaped to improve accessibility and transportation.

She also announced the renovation of the Ampabame No.1 Bridge, which will enhance the movement of people and goods within the area.

To improve access to potable water, the Assembly has also constructed 16 mechanized boreholes across various communities in the district.

    Education Development

In the education sector, Hon. Agyemang Asamoah disclosed that the compound of Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School has been reshaped to enhance the learning environment.

She further announced that a three-unit classroom block at New Ejuampong is currently under construction, while a six-unit classroom block for Afasiebon Basic School has been awarded for construction.

    Healthcare Improvements

On healthcare delivery, the DCE revealed that three Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds are being constructed at Asaago, Nweneso No.1, and Nweneso No.3 to improve access to primary healthcare services in the district.

    Agricultural Support

Hon. Agyemang Asamoah also highlighted the Assembly’s support for agriculture. Under the Feed Ghana Model, the Nkokonkitinkiti Project distributed 5,000 chickens to 118 households, particularly benefiting women and youth.

Additionally, 9,000 oil palm seedlings were supplied to farmers to boost agricultural productivity and promote agribusiness in the district.

    Sanitation and Environmental Efforts

Touching on sanitation, the DCE disclosed that seven major refuse dump sites have been evacuated, sanitation equipment distributed to 33 electoral areas, and 60 dustbins provided to basic schools, with an additional 70 bins expected to be distributed to communities.

    Cultural Promotion and Economic Opportunities

She further commended the Ashantifest initiative, describing it as an important platform for promoting Ashanti culture, tourism, and local economic development.

The DCE also highlighted the government’s 24-Hour Economy Initiative, explaining that it will expand business opportunities, create jobs for the youth, and increase economic activity across districts.

    Advice to Students

Hon. Agyemang Asamoah encouraged school children who participated in the march past to remain disciplined and focused on their education, stressing that they represent the future of the country.

She concluded by calling on citizens to uphold the values of unity, patriotism, and hard work in order to collectively build a prosperous Ghana and restore hope across communities.
