Former Communications Officer of the NDC in Atwima Kwanwoma,Murtallah Mohammed, has questioned the credibility of the constituency executive elections, describing the outcome as a possible “stolen verdict” and calling for a thorough investigation.
In a statement,Mr Mohammed raised concerns over the alleged failure to exhibit and validate the voters’ album before the polls, the late and selective release of the register and questions about the impartiality of the Electoral Committee.
He also alleged that more than 700 questionable names appeared in the album without proper scrutiny and validation before the election.
Mr Mohammed admitted that allowing the election to proceed without demanding a comprehensive review of the voters’ register was a mistake, arguing that the process should have been suspended until the concerns were addressed.
He called for transparency, accountability and an independent investigation into the allegations, insisting that any proven wrongdoing must attract appropriate sanctions.
“We are not opposed to elections. We are opposed to any process that compromises the credibility of an election,” he stressed.
The allegations have raised questions about the conduct of the polls, although the claims require independent verification and a response from the relevant electoral authorities.
Mr Mohammed maintained that the credibility of an election depends not only on declaring a winner but also on ensuring that the process is transparent, fair and credible.
