Break the Chains of Poverty Through Education – Ex-Minister Urges Parents

Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum calls for greater parental investment in education as he pledges support for Sekyere Kusi Senior High Technical School.

The immediate past Minister for Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, has reiterated the vital role education plays in transforming lives and lifting families out of poverty. He emphasized that education remains one of the most powerful tools through which individuals can break the cycle of poverty and secure a better future.

Dr. Adutwum made the remarks at a durbar organized by the chiefs and people of Sekyere Kontonkyi in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region. The event was aimed at mobilizing support for the development of Sekyere Kusi Senior High Technical School, particularly in addressing the school’s infrastructure needs.

The respected educationist, who now serves as the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee in Parliament, pledged to leverage his position to advocate for more government support to improve facilities at the school. He encouraged parents to prioritize the education of their children, stating that “education is not just a path to personal success, but a legacy that can uplift entire communities.”

The Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, also praised Dr. Adutwum for his instrumental role in facilitating the absorption of Sekyere Kusi Senior High Technical School into the public education system. He urged the people of Sekyere Kontonkyi to rally behind efforts to make the school a preferred institution for quality technical and secondary education.

The Headmaster, Nana Obrempong Nkrumah Agyei II, appealed to local residents to enroll their children in the school, highlighting the institution’s potential to offer both academic and technical training for future careers.

Adding his voice, the Board Chairman of the School, Dr. Paul Appiah Konadu, called on natives of the area and benevolent individuals to support the school with their resources to help improve teaching and learning conditions.

For more information or to support the school, contact Dr. Paul Appiah Konadu on 024 792 4913.
