Dawn Disaster Averted: GNFS Pulls 16 to Safety After Brutal Crash at Nyamebekyere

A swift intervention by firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station saved sixteen lives at daybreak today, November 18, 2025, following a fierce head-on collision between a Ford Transit (AS 7172-23) and a Kia Rhino (AS 3058-X) on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway near Nyamebekyere.

The rescue team, made up of eight personnel and led by STNO II Simon Yeboah, rushed to the scene at 5:38 a.m. and executed a coordinated extraction of all occupants, fourteen from the Ford Transit and two from the Kia Rhino. The injured were immediately transported to the Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center.

Though the crash left both vehicles heavily mangled, all sixteen victims survived, sustaining injuries ranging from minor to severe. Authorities say investigations are underway to determine what caused the collision.
