Esaso Tension: Mob Kills Suspected Thief, Burns Two Tricycles After Failed Outfit

A suspected thief has been killed by a mob at Esaso in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region after an alleged robbery attempt went wrong on Friday, November 7, 2025.

The man’s body was later recovered from a nearby gutter. Two tricycles said to be connected to him were also set on fire during the incident.

Eyewitnesses claim the deceased was among a group of five men who reportedly tried to steal materials from an active construction site. Residents say four of the alleged suspects managed to escape, leaving one behind. The apprehended suspect was beaten by residents and was later found dead.

Community members say the incident reflects growing fear and frustration over rising criminal activities in the area. Some residents believe the action was meant to send a stern warning to thieves.

“One resident remarked that the youth were already angered by a series of recent robbery cases, which may have led to the violent response.

Police have not issued a statement on the matter.

The development adds to the increasing number of mob justice incidents reported across Ghana, where individuals are attacked and killed without due process.
