Fahiakobo Gets Major Healthcare Boost as New CHPS Compound Opens

Residents of Fahiakobo in the Amansie Central District are set to enjoy improved access to quality healthcare following the official commissioning of a newly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound by the District Assembly.

The facility, commissioned on Monday, May 25, 2026, is expected to provide essential healthcare services including antenatal care, child welfare services, immunization, health education, treatment of minor ailments, preventive healthcare, and emergency response for residents within the community and surrounding areas.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the District Chief Executive for Amansie Central, Hon. Emmanuel Obeng-Agyemang, described the project as a major milestone in the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

According to him, the project reflects the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to every resident regardless of their geographical location.

“It is not just about cutting a ribbon, but reaffirming our commitment that where one lives should not determine the quality of healthcare they receive,” the DCE stated.

Hon. Obeng-Agyemang noted that the Assembly, in collaboration with development partners and stakeholders, has prioritized the construction of CHPS compounds across underserved communities to bridge the healthcare gap and improve the wellbeing of residents.

He further emphasized that the Fahiakobo CHPS Compound will significantly reduce the burden of residents traveling long distances in search of healthcare services while improving productivity and overall public health within the area.

The DCE expressed appreciation to the President, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, the Ashanti Regional Minister, traditional authorities, and the people of Fahiakobo for their support and cooperation towards the successful completion of the project.

The Assembly also commended the Works and Planning Departments of the Amansie Central District Assembly as well as the contractor for delivering what officials described as a durable and quality health facility for the community.

Health authorities were urged to deploy dedicated and competent healthcare personnel to the facility, ensure regular supervision, availability of essential medicines, and continuous training for staff to guarantee efficient healthcare delivery.

The Community Health Management Committee was equally tasked to educate residents on the services available at the facility and support efforts aimed at maintaining and sustaining the structure.

Residents who attended the ceremony expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the intervention, noting that the facility would greatly ease healthcare challenges in the area.

They were also encouraged to patronize the facility regularly, attend antenatal and child welfare clinics, seek early medical attention, avoid self-medication, and protect the facility from vandalism and theft.

The commissioning ceremony brought together officials from the Ghana Health Service, members of the District Assembly, religious leaders, traditional authorities, heads of departments, media practitioners, and residents who applauded the initiative.

The Amansie Central District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to investing in health infrastructure across the district, stressing that healthcare remains a key priority under its Medium-Term Development Plan.
