Former NUGS President Lawyer Vincent Frimpong Manu Mourns Dr. Omane Boamah

In a heartfelt tribute, Lawyer Vincent Frimpong Manu has reflected on his long-standing friendship with the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as “a gem and a brilliant leader” whose sudden passing is a painful loss to Ghana.

The two first crossed paths in 2002 during the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Handing-Over Dinner and Awards Night, where Dr. Boamah served as National President and Mr. Frimpong Manu as Local NUGS President for the University of Cape Coast.

Though political paths later diverged—Dr. Boamah joining the NDC and Mr. Frimpong Manu remaining in the NPP—their mutual respect and camaraderie endured over the years, often exchanging light-hearted banter despite political disagreements.

Recalling the moment he heard the news, Mr. Frimpong Manu said, “My heart leapt into my mouth hoping my fears wouldn’t be confirmed. Sadly, the news turned out to be even worse. Ghana has indeed lost a gem.”

He prayed for God’s comfort for Dr. Boamah’s wife, children, and family, and closed with the solemn farewell: “Damrifa Due, Patriot cum Comrade.”
