Grace Asamoah Agyemang, Doris Ofori Tour Examination Centers; Admonish BECE Candidates Against ‘Apor’:
A total of 7,158 candidates are sitting for the exams in Atwima Kwanwoma, comprising 3,443 males and 3,715 females. The candidates are writing at 20 designated centers, including Afia Kobi SHS, Kromoase D/A, Afrancho Odumase R/C, and Trede M/A schools—part of the 432 centers across the Ashanti Region.
Addressing the students,the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Kwanwoma, Hon.Grace Asamoah Agyemang, toured the examination centers to offer moral support and monitor the ongoing process. Grace urged candidates to avoid all forms of examination malpractice, commonly known as “apor,” and to uphold honesty, discipline, and integrity.
She encouraged candidates to remain calm, trust in the knowledge they have gained, and seek clarification from their teachers on challenging subjects rather than resort to dishonest means.
“The values of honesty and discipline are key to long-term success in life. Candidates must uphold truth, resist malpractice, and conduct themselves with integrity,” she advised.
On her part, Mrs. Doris Ofori, the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Director of Education, commended the candidates for their discipline and calm demeanor, noting that this year’s examination has so far been smooth, with only a minor delay reported at one center in Atwima Twedie.
Mrs. Ofori emphasized that the Ghana Education Service (GES) takes academic honesty seriously and cautioned candidates against relying on leaked answers. “There is zero tolerance for examination malpractice. Relying on leaked papers not only undermines your efforts but also has serious consequences,” she warned.
A total of 76 private and public schools out of 140 in the district are taking their exams across the 20 centers. The basic education certificate examination (BECE) is scheduled to run until June 18, 2025.
The Directorate expressed satisfaction with the general atmosphere, describing the calmness and discipline observed as a positive sign for the integrity of this year’s exams.
