“HELP US,GOVERNMENT”-Ahinsan Camp Prison Makes Emotional SOS
Fence Wall,Clinic,Essential Drugs,Modern Kitchen & Skills-Training Equipment Top Prison’s Urgent Needs

The Ahinsan Camp Prison at Dompoasi in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region has made an urgent appeal to the government, corporate organisations, philanthropists and benevolent individuals to come to its aid as the facility battles critical infrastructure, healthcare and skills-training challenges.
Assistant Director of Prisons at the facility, Mr Martin Duah, says the prison urgently needs support for the construction of a proper fence wall, completion and development of its clinic, provision of essential medicines and acquisition of equipment to enhance skills-training programmes for inmates.
Mr Duah made the passionate appeal when Kumasi-based journalist Mr Samuel Ofori Boateng visited the facility and presented assorted items to inmates as part of activities marking his birthday.
According to him, the facility has an ongoing self-help clinic project, but additional resources are required to complete and develop the project to provide improved healthcare services to inmates.
He explained that access to adequate healthcare remains an important component of the welfare of inmates and appealed to individuals and organisations with the capacity to assist to support the project.
“We Need More Support”
Mr Duah further disclosed that the prison was also seeking assistance for the construction of a modern kitchen, as well as machines and equipment for its tailoring centre.
The facility also requires equipment to support palm-oil processing, which forms part of its efforts to equip inmates with practical skills.
He said providing inmates with relevant vocational and technical skills was crucial to their successful reintegration into society after serving their sentences.
According to him, inmates who acquire practical skills while in custody stand a better chance of becoming economically productive and independent after their release.
Mr Duah therefore appealed to the government, corporate bodies, NGOs, churches, philanthropists, benevolent individuals and other stakeholders to support the prison’s development initiatives.
He expressed gratitude to Mr Ofori Boateng for remembering the inmates on his birthday and assured him that the donated items would be properly managed and used for their intended purposes.
JOURNALIST TURNS BIRTHDAY INTO CHARITY MISSION
Meanwhile, journalist Samuel Ofori Boateng has demonstrated his commitment to giving back to society by marking his birthday with donations to vulnerable people and institutions.
Mr Ofori Boateng explained that supporting needy individuals and institutions had become part of his annual birthday activities.
At the Ahinsan Camp Prison, he donated assorted items including bags of sachet water, soft drinks, bread, second-hand clothes, bags of rice, cooking oil, toilet rolls, washing powder, toothbrushes and liquid soap, among other supplies.
He also extended his charitable gesture to the Bekwai Kwamang Nipa Hia Mmoa Orphanage Home, where he donated educational materials including exercise books, pencils, erasers and pens to support the children.
Speaking to the media, Mr Ofori Boateng said the initiative was his modest way of giving back to society and extending support to people and institutions facing various challenges.
He said his decision to visit the prison and orphanage was also inspired by biblical teachings that encourage society to remember people in prison and care for vulnerable members of the community.
“I Will Keep Supporting The Vulnerable”
Mr Ofori Boateng pledged to continue supporting vulnerable groups, particularly prisoners and children in need, whenever he had the opportunity.
He urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the donated items were properly managed and used strictly for their intended purposes.
ORPHANAGE FOUNDER SALUTES OFORI BOATENG
The Founder and Leader of Nipa Hia Mmoa Orphanage Home, Mr Adade Emmanuel, also expressed appreciation to Mr Ofori Boateng for his continued support to the home.
According to him, the journalist’s interventions have helped the orphanage meet some of its pressing needs and improve the welfare of the children.
Mr Adade Emmanuel commended Mr Ofori Boateng for choosing to celebrate his birthday by extending a helping hand to vulnerable people rather than concentrating solely on personal celebrations.
He assured the donor that the items donated to the orphanage would be properly managed and used directly for the benefit of the children.
The outreach forms part of Samuel Ofori Boateng’s annual birthday charity activities, through which he seeks to give back to society and support vulnerable individuals and institutions.
AHINSAN CAMP PRISON’S MESSAGE IS CLEAR: SUPPORT IS URGENT
With the facility calling for assistance for a fence wall, clinic development, medicines, a modern kitchen and skills-training equipment, stakeholders and well-meaning members of the public now have an opportunity to contribute towards improving conditions at the prison and strengthening efforts to prepare inmates for successful reintegration into society.
