Hon.Seth Osei Akoto Breaks Ground for Ultramodern Police Station to Enhance Security in Atwima Mponua

MP Delivers on Campaign Promise as Kotokum Residents Anticipate Safer Communities and Accelerated Development

Honourable Seth Osei Akoto,Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, has officially cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern police station at Kotokum,a major step toward strengthening security and improving livelihoods across the district.

The project, which is expected to serve over eighteen (18) surrounding communities, is designed to enhance policing services, boost public safety, and support local development efforts in the area.

The facility will be fully equipped with essential infrastructure, including a charge office, CID unit, armed store room, separate detention cells for males, females, and juveniles, washrooms, officers’ offices, and restrooms, ensuring efficient and professional police operations.

Addressing the media immediately after the ceremony,Hon.Seth Osei Akoto underscored the critical role of security in community development, noting that the project forms part of his commitment to fulfilling promises made ahead of the 2024 general elections.

He expressed concern over rising incidents of armed robbery in Kotokum and nearby communities, attributing the situation to increased farming and mining activities in the area. According to him, the new police station will help restore confidence among residents and provide a strong security presence to deter criminal activities.

Hon. Akoto further revealed that the project will be supported through the MP’s Common Fund, and urged the contractor to prioritize the employment of skilled local residents to promote economic empowerment within the community.

Residents of Kotokum, who gathered at the community center for the brief ceremony, voiced their frustrations over persistent armed robbery attacks on commuters, especially during nighttime. They, however, expressed optimism that the new police station will significantly improve security in the area.

Adding his voice, the Odikro of Kotokum, Nana Kofi Agyeman Badu II, commended the MP for the initiative but highlighted other pressing development needs confronting the community. These include access to safe drinking water, improved telecommunications network, reliable street lighting, and functional electricity transformers.

Nana Kofi Agyeman Badu II assured the Member of Parliament and the contractor of the community’s full support, pledging their readiness to cooperate to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The sod-cutting ceremony marks yet another milestone in Hon.Seth Osei Akoto’s development agenda, reinforcing his commitment to improving security and the overall well-being of constituents in Atwima Mponua.
