Christians advised to prioritize personal security as police intensify safety awareness

As Christians around the world prepare to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ during the Easter festivities, the Divisional Commander of the Ghana Police Service at Nkawie, Chief Superintendent Joshua Semanyoh, has issued a strong call for heightened personal security among the general public.

According to Chief Superintendent Semanyoh, the Easter season, marked by increased religious activities, night vigils, and large gatherings—requires extra caution, particularly from Christians who actively participate in church programs.

He advised individuals to avoid moving alone, especially after late-night prayers and church services, stressing that such periods can expose people to potential security risks. He emphasized that adopting simple safety measures, such as moving in groups and staying alert, can significantly reduce vulnerability to crime.

The Nkawie Police Commander also placed responsibility on church leaders, urging pastors and organizers to ensure that services close on time. This, he noted, will help minimize unnecessary exposure to danger and contribute to a peaceful celebration before, during, and after the Easter period.

“Church leaders must be mindful of the safety of their congregants by avoiding prolonged late-night activities and ensuring proper security arrangements,” he cautioned.

Chief Superintendent Semanyoh made these remarks during an interaction with Kumasi-based media practitioners at his office in Nkawie. He further assured the public of the Ghana Police Service’s readiness to maintain law and order throughout the festive season, adding that adequate security measures have been put in place across the area.

He also called on residents to cooperate with the police by reporting any suspicious activities promptly, reiterating that security is a shared responsibility.

The police administration remains committed to ensuring a safe and incident-free Easter celebration for all.
