Mahama Wastes Taxpayer Money- Refuses to Fly Ghana’s Presidential Jet

Luxury at the expense of the people: Why is the President hiding the true cost of his foreign trips?

President John Dramani Mahama has abandoned Ghana’s Presidential Jet on his official trip to Japan and Singapore- opting instead for a secretive luxury flight. This reckless decision is a slap in the face of the ordinary Ghanaian taxpayer.

Which aircraft is the President flying on? Why is the government refusing to disclose the cost of this trip? What exactly is he hiding?

The NDC once loudly declared that no government official would use private jets. Yet today, President Mahama himself is violating that very principle. The state’s Presidential Jet remains in perfect condition, fully functional, and is projected to serve the nation until 2040. In fact, it is so advanced that other countries rent it from us for their official missions.

So why is our President wasting millions of cedis to hire luxury jets? Why is he ignoring the very aircraft that was bought with Ghanaian sweat and taxes?

This culture of extravagance began when Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa rented one of the world’s most expensive jets for the Vice President. Now, it seems wastefulness has become the norm. The government refuses to reveal how much this current trip is costing, yet demands sacrifices from struggling citizens.

President Mahama must be told in clear terms: Stop the reckless spending, Stop the deception, Use the Presidential Jet or come clean about how much you’re blowing on private flights!

Ghana deserves better. The people cannot continue to tighten their belts while their leaders live in reckless luxury.
