MP Kofi Amankwa Manu Calls for End to Politics Over Flood Disasters, Commissions 12-Seater Toilet Facility to Boost Sanitation in Akosomo

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, Hon.Kofi Amankwa Manu, has called on politicians and the general public to stop politicising Ghana’s recurring flood disasters and instead unite behind practical and lasting solutions that will safeguard lives and property.
According to the MP,the recent floods that claimed several lives and destroyed valuable properties across parts of the country should serve as a wake-up call for all stakeholders to place sanitation and environmental protection above partisan politics.
He stressed that flooding is a national challenge that demands collective action,urging political leaders, local authorities and citizens to prioritise preventive measures such as proper waste disposal,regular desilting of drains, protection of waterways and improved sanitation infrastructure.
“If we put effective precautionary measures in place and make sanitation a shared responsibility, the persistent flooding that continues to claim innocent lives and destroy livelihoods can become a thing of the past,”he stated.

Hon. Kofi Amankwa Manu made the remarks during the official commissioning and handing over of a newly constructed 12-seater public toilet facility for the people of Akosomo,a farming community in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.

The project forms part of the MP’s commitment to improving sanitation, promoting public health and enhancing the living conditions of residents within the constituency. The modern toilet facility is expected to help reduce open defecation, improve environmental cleanliness and prevent sanitation-related diseases in the community.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the people, the Assembly Member for the Yabi-Akosomo Electoral Area, Hon. Solomon Owusu Antwi, expressed profound gratitude to the MP for responding to one of the community’s most pressing sanitation needs.

The Queen Mother of Akosomo,Nana Abena Achea, also commended Hon.Kofi Amankwa Manu for his unwavering commitment to community development. She assured him that the community would ensure the proper maintenance and protection of the facility so that it would serve both the present and future generations.

Residents described the project as timely and impactful, noting that access to decent sanitation facilities would significantly improve public health, protect the environment and contribute to the overall development of the community.
The commissioning of the facility reflects Hon. Kofi Amankwa Manu’s continued investment in community development through projects that directly improve the welfare and quality of life of his constituents.
The event was attended by traditional authorities (Nananom), Assembly Members, political party executives and supporters from across the political divide, opinion leaders, youth groups and residents, all of whom applauded the MP’s commitment to promoting sanitation and sustainable development in Atwima Kwanwoma.
