NPP Financial Dispute:Bankroller Accuses “Dr. China” of Unpaid $30,000 Campaign Debt

A fresh financial dispute has emerged within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following allegations by Los Angeles-based party supporter and financier Kareena that Dr.Charles Dwamena, popularly known as “Dr. China,” has failed to repay a $30,000 debt allegedly incurred during the party’s 2022 internal elections.

According to Kareena, she provided financial assistance to Dr. Dwamena’s campaign during the internal elections after allegedly liquidating part of her retirement savings and securing a $30,000 personal loan.

She claims the financial support was provided on the understanding that the money would subsequently be reimbursed.

Kareena, however, says although some payments were made,a significant amount remains outstanding.

She has also expressed disappointment over what she describes as Dr. Dwamena’s decision to sever communication and distance himself from her after the campaign ended.

    Failed Mediation
Kareena says she initially sought to resolve the matter internally rather than make the dispute public.

According to her,she petitioned senior figures within the NPP,including former National Chairman Stephen Ntim, in an attempt to facilitate an amicable settlement.

She claims those intervention efforts did not result in a resolution.

Kareena has subsequently questioned Dr. Dwamena’s accountability and suitability for the position of NPP General Secretary, arguing that anyone seeking such a senior party position should demonstrate financial responsibility and honour commitments made to supporters.

    Dr. China Denies Owing Kareena
However,Dr. Charles Dwamena has strongly rejected the allegation.
Speaking to this reporter,Dr. Dwamena firmly stated that he does not owe Kareena any money, dismissing the claim that he has an outstanding $30,000 campaign debt to her.

His denial places the two parties at opposing positions, with Kareena maintaining that an amount remains unpaid while Dr. Dwamena insists that he has no financial obligation to her.

The dispute comes at a time when internal political contests within the NPP are attracting increased public attention, making allegations involving campaign financing and financial accountability particularly significant.

Unless the matter is resolved privately or supported by documentary evidence, the competing claims remain allegations and denials from the two parties involved.
