“Put Patients Before Payment”-Kumawu MP Urges Health Workers
Ernest Yaw Anim Calls for Compassionate Healthcare Delivery,Assures Constituents of Support for Patients Facing Financial Difficulties

The Member of Parliament for the Sekyere Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim,has urged health practitioners within the constituency to prioritise the lives and wellbeing of patients by ensuring that financial difficulties do not become a barrier to receiving timely medical attention.
Hon.Anim made the appeal during the official commissioning and handing-over of a newly constructed nurses’ quarters at Kumawu-Bodomase,describing the facility as part of his continued efforts to improve healthcare delivery and make essential health services more accessible to residents across the constituency.
According to the MP, healthcare is a noble profession that comes with an important responsibility to serve humanity, particularly vulnerable members of society who may not always have the financial means to immediately settle their medical bills.
He therefore appealed to health practitioners to avoid situations where patients are denied or delayed medical attention solely because they are unable to make immediate payments.
Hon.Anim stressed that saving lives should remain the primary consideration in healthcare delivery, while financial and administrative issues could be addressed through appropriate channels.
He further encouraged health workers to notify him whenever they encounter patients who are unable to pay their hospital bills due to genuine financial difficulties.
“I am ready to support people within my capacity. If there is a patient who is genuinely suffering because he or she cannot afford the hospital bill, let me know. We can find a way to support such a person,” he said.
The MP noted that improving healthcare infrastructure alone would not be sufficient if residents continued to face challenges in accessing medical care. He therefore called for stronger collaboration between healthcare providers,community leaders and stakeholders to ensure that residents receive the care they need.
Nurses’ Quarters to Improve Healthcare Services
The commissioning of the nurses’ quarters at Kumawu-Bodomase forms part of efforts to improve the working conditions of healthcare professionals and encourage them to remain within the communities where their services are needed.
Hon.Anim said providing decent accommodation for nurses and other health personnel could contribute to improving staff availability and ultimately enhance healthcare delivery,particularly in rural and underserved communities.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and access to quality medical services throughout the Kumawu Constituency.
The MP also appealed to residents to support healthcare workers and cooperate with health authorities to promote a healthier community.
He expressed the hope that the newly commissioned facility would contribute to creating a conducive working environment for nurses while helping to strengthen healthcare delivery at Kumawu-Bodomase and surrounding communities.
The initiative,he said,forms part of his broader commitment to ensuring that constituents can access essential services without unnecessary barriers.
