A new wave of excitement and political momentum is sweeping through Manhyia South Constituency as preparations intensify for the maiden edition of the highly anticipated Soloku Festival,an initiative being hailed as a transformative force for cultural revival, economic empowerment, and social cohesion.

The landmark festival was officially unveiled in Kumasi at the Jofel Catering Restaurant by the Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who described the initiative as a strategic intervention designed to reposition Manhyia South at the forefront of Ghana’s tourism and cultural economy.

Addressing the media, the MP delivered a strong and visionary message, framing the Soloku Festival not just as a celebration, but as a deliberate political and developmental tool aimed at unlocking dormant economic potential within the constituency.

“This is not just a festival,it is a movement. The Soloku Festival will unite our people, stimulate local enterprise, and redefine the economic future of Manhyia South,” he declared.

Drawing parallels with global success stories such as the Notting Hill Carnival, Hon. Baffour Awuah emphasized that well-structured cultural events can significantly boost tourism, attract investment, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

He noted that the initiative is expected to revive dormant hospitality facilities, including abandoned hotels, while opening new avenues for youth employment and small business growth.

The festival’s lineup promises a vibrant fusion of culture, competition, and community engagement.

Planned activities include food competitions, drafting contests, tug-of-war challenges, traditional indigenous games, and a colourful street procession led by the Soloku band, which will move across adjoining constituencies to build awareness and regional participation.

In a further boost to its inclusive agenda, Program Organizer Serwaah Kobi Osisiadan stressed that the festival is intentionally designed to rise above partisan politics, fostering peace, unity, and collective identity among residents.

“Soloku is for the people, beyond party lines. It is about unity, harmony, and building a stronger, more connected community,” she noted.

Political observers view the initiative as a smart grassroots mobilization strategy, capable of strengthening community bonds while reinforcing leadership visibility and responsiveness. By blending culture with economic strategy, the festival is expected to serve as a blueprint for constituency-level development across Ghana.

Organizers remain confident that the Soloku Festival will evolve into a flagship cultural event within the Ashanti Region, attracting visitors from across the country and the diaspora, while showcasing the rich heritage, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of the people of Manhyia South.

With anticipation building rapidly, one thing is clear: Soloku is not just arriving,it is set to redefine the cultural and political landscape of the constituency.
