Stop Promising What Already Exists- Kwadwo Baah Agyemang Rebukes Mahama

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL), Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has described as “uneducated” the promise by NDC’s flag-bearer, John Mahama that he will create digital centers across the country for the training of the youth.

Speaking to this reporter, Hon Agyemang said his outfit was currently operating across the ten traditional regions of the country.

He noted that the GDCL was making use of the regional innovation centers to train the youth in ICT and other forms of digital skills.

Hon Agyemang said it was therefore erroneous for the former President to tell an obvious untruth about carrying out something which is already in operation.

“The Ghana Digital Centres Limited as the name suggests is currently operating nationwide and as you know i have with the assistance of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) been undertaking digital training programs for the youth and these are being done at the Digital Centres across the regions”, the CEO stated.

    Better Training:
The CEO also laughed at the claim by the former President that he intends to train One Million persons on coding.

Hon Kwadwo Baah said the GDCL since his appointment has been training the youth in better programmes including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Software Engineering, Software Programming and Machine Learning.

Others are coding, data analytics, animation design, web design  web development and Microsoft applications.

These training, the CEO disclosed are aimed at preparing the Ghanaian youth to take up 9million job opportunities that are available digitally.

    Vision:
Hon Agyemang said the GDCL since 2017 has been mandated to train and equip the Ghanaian youth with digital skills.

This vision by the NPP government, he explained, would enable the Ghanaian Youth to be able to able function and efficiently contribute to the new digital revolution across the world.

The GDCL, the CEO intimated is currently training about 5, 000 youth across Ghana to acquire skills in basic, intermediary and advanced level digital skills.

This training programme by the GDCL is in partnership with YEA and being rolled out across the country.
