Watch out for Dumsor Part Two!! Electricity Company Of Ghana Announces:

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO) have issued a warning to Ghanaians, advising them to prepare for potential power outages, commonly known as “dumsor.”

The warning comes as a result of a significant buildup of debts owed to Independent Power Producers (IPPs), which has put the country’s power supply at risk.

ECG and GRIDCO explained that the growing debts to IPPs have created challenges in maintaining a steady flow of electricity across the country.

The two organizations stated that the IPPs, who generate a substantial portion of the country’s electricity, have been facing difficulties in receiving payments for the power they supply.

As a result, some of these power producers may be forced to reduce their supply or suspend power generation if the debts are not addressed promptly.

In their statement, ECG and GRIDCO emphasized the urgent need for the government to intervene and settle the outstanding debts to prevent further disruptions in the power supply.

“If this issue is not resolved soon, we may experience more frequent power outages, which will affect businesses, households, and other essential services,” the statement read.

Ghanaians have been urged to brace themselves for the possibility of power cuts, especially as the country approaches the dry season, which is typically marked by higher electricity demand.

The situation has sparked concerns among citizens, as power outages have had a negative impact on daily life in the past.

The government, through the Ministry of Energy, has promised to address the issue, but it remains unclear when a solution will be reached.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians are being urged to use electricity sparingly to minimize the strain on the national grid.
