Amansie Central Assembly Disburses GH¢216,400 to Empower 49 Persons with Disabilities
DCE Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang says economic empowerment remains key to reducing poverty and promoting inclusive development.

In a strong demonstration of government’s commitment to inclusive development and social protection,the Amansie Central District Assembly has released GH¢216,400 from the Persons with Disability (PWD) Common Fund to 49 beneficiaries,bringing renewed hope and relief to many families across the district.
The disbursement, drawn from the second-quarter allocation of the Fund, was made at a well-attended ceremony at the Assembly forecourt,where emotions ran high as beneficiaries received life-changing support packages.
The District Chief Executive (DCE),Hon.Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang,popularly known as Pedro,used the occasion to reaffirm the Assembly’s resolve under the current government to prioritise vulnerable groups,stressing that no development agenda is complete without empowering persons with disabilities.
He noted that the initiative reflects the government’s broader social intervention policies aimed at reducing poverty,promoting dignity, and ensuring that PWDs are not left behind in the country’s development drive.
“Economic empowerment is the most sustainable way to transform lives,”the DCE stated,adding that the Assembly remains committed to equipping beneficiaries with the tools and resources needed to build independent and productive livelihoods.
He further emphasised that the intervention is not just financial support,but a deliberate political and social commitment to inclusion, dignity,and equal opportunity for all citizens.
A breakdown of the allocation shows GH¢55,000 dedicated to economic empowerment,GH¢118,400 for tools and equipment, GH¢15,000 for medical assistance,and GH¢28,000 for educational support.
The beneficiaries received a range of items including industrial sewing machines,refrigerators,fufu pounding machines,cocoa spraying machines (Motoblow), artificial limbs, and other business equipment tailored to their individual needs. Others were supported with funds and materials to boost their trading activities, healthcare needs,and education.
Hon.Obeng Agyemang urged beneficiaries to use the support judiciously,stressing that the success of the programme depends on responsible utilisation to create sustainable income streams that can uplift families and communities.
He also made a passionate appeal to all persons with disabilities in the district who are yet to register with the Department of Social Welfare to do so,assuring them that the government remains committed to expanding support under the PWD Common Fund.
For many beneficiaries, the intervention was more than just assistance-it was a turning point. Several expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and the Assembly,describing the support as timely, life-changing, and a clear sign that their struggles have not been forgotten.
They pledged to make good use of the items and funds to improve their businesses, support their children’s education,and access better healthcare,while calling for continued government attention to their welfare.
The Assembly reiterated that the initiative forms part of its broader development agenda to ensure inclusive growth,where persons with disabilities are empowered to actively participate in Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
