A renowned female legal practitioner,Lawyer Diana Adu Dankwa, has called on couples and prospective spouses to have genuine and justifiable grounds before seeking divorce, expressing concern over the increasing rate of marital breakdowns in Ghana.

According to her, marriage is a serious institution that requires commitment, understanding, patience and a proper knowledge of the responsibilities that come with it.

Lawyer Diana Adu Dankwa urged prospective couples to learn and understand the principles and responsibilities of marriage before entering into it, stressing that people should not rush into marriage without adequately preparing themselves for its demands.

She made the remarks during the 5th anniversary celebration of Endtime Divine Ministry at Sokoban in Kumasi, held under the theme “Celebrating God’s Goodness.”

Stop Taking Marital Issues to the Media

Lawyer Diana also strongly advised couples to refrain from discussing their private marital problems on radio, television and other public platforms.

She noted that no radio station, television station or media platform has the authority to legally dissolve a marriage, whether it is a traditional marriage or a legally registered one.

She described it as unfortunate and worrying to see mature adults publicly exposing intimate marital matters over misunderstandings that could otherwise be addressed through dialogue, counselling and mutual understanding.

According to her, constantly exposing marital disputes to the public could have serious consequences for the individuals involved, their families and in some cases, future generations.

She therefore encouraged couples experiencing marital challenges to seek appropriate counselling and trusted professional intervention rather than turning their private matters into public discussions.

Lawyer Diana Urges Women to Respect Their Husbands

Lawyer Diana Adu Dankwa further advised women in marriage to demonstrate respect and submission to their husbands while placing value on the institution of marriage beyond their level of formal education.

She cautioned women against allowing their educational achievements to create disrespect or unnecessary conflicts in their marriages, stressing the importance of humility, mutual respect and understanding between husbands and wives.

She,however, emphasized that both partners have responsibilities in marriage and must work together to build peaceful and sustainable homes.

Apostle Benjamin Owusu Calls for Stronger Discipline in Schools

Speaking at the same event, the Founder and Leader of Endtime Divine Ministry,Apostle Benjamin Owusu, called on the government to consider measures to restore discipline in Ghana’s educational system.

He suggested that teachers should be given stronger disciplinary authority, including appropriate forms of punishment within the limits of the law and child-protection standards,to help address what he described as declining discipline among some schoolchildren.

According to him, restoring discipline in schools is essential to shaping responsible young people and building a better future for the country.

Religious Tolerance Is Key to Ghana’s Peace

Touching on religious differences in Ghana,Apostle Benjamin Owusu urged citizens to continue worshipping God according to their respective beliefs while avoiding actions and statements that could threaten the country’s religious harmony.

He called for tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths, stressing that Ghana’s religious peace remains an important part of the country’s image.

He therefore appealed to religious leaders and their followers to avoid activities that could create unnecessary tension and division and instead promote unity and peaceful coexistence for the benefit of Ghana.
